Ayurveda for Life
From time to time, humans have brought new revelations in science and medicine. Today, technology has advanced a lot in modern medicine. For example, humans have developed various drugs to fight against lethal diseases that were a death sentence in the past. This way of treatment is called allopathic treatment. The results are fast and better, with some risk of side effects. In ancient India, Ayurveda has a history of more than 3000 years. Ayurveda is still practised, and people are greatly benefitted from ayurvedic medicines. Ayurveda is not only restricted to India but now has spread to the entire world. It has been gaining popularity since it’s natural and has little to no side effects, but the curing process is slow.
What is Ayurveda?
The Sanskrit word ayurveda translates to ‘knowledge of life’. Ayurveda is the oldest medicinal practice in India. Ayurveda has eight branches, are as follows: kayachikitsa(internal medicine), Baalachikitsa(paediatrics), Bhuta Vidya(Psychiatry), Shalakya Tantra(ENT), Shalya Tantra(Surgery), vishagravairodh tantra (Toxicology), jarachikitsa(Geriatrics and Rejuvenation), vajikarana (Aphrodisiac Therapy, Fertility, and Conception). Ayurveda relies on a natural and holistic approach. It is founded on the belief that health and well-being depend on the delicate balance of the mind, body, and spirit. Although its main goal is to promote good health, proven treatments are available for specific health problems. In some cases, ayurvedic medicine can help with issues that modern science calls incurable. Ayurveda is more of a lifestyle practice. For example, there are foods that ayurvedic teachings forbid consuming together. Practices like adding tulsi leaves to tea, Usage of aloe vera to help with skin issues etc., are all influenced by ayurveda. Modern medicine or allopathy is different from the ayurvedic practice. Allopathic medicine is not from natural sources. Most of them are chemical-based. While allopathic medicines react and heal fast, ayurvedic medicine depends on strengthening the body’s regeneration power.
